We spent a lot of time travelling around Portugal on several different occasions and came across many amazing spots. From north to south, east to west, Portugal has such a diverse look, that you will struggle to keep your camera in the pocket.

1. Cascais

This beautiful fishing town, we call home for a few months, has to be one of the most picture-perfect spots in Portugal.

The view of the Santa Marta lighthouse from the bridge, featured in many travel magazines and painted by talented artists, has to be one of our favourite spots.

You can easily visit Sintra on a day trip from Lisbon.

Set in the Sintra hills, you will find fairytale castles and stunning views. Sintra has become one of the most popular places to visit in Portugal, and once you get here, you will realise why.

The Pena Palace is not only the most popular tourist attraction but also one of the most popular Instagram places in Portugal.

When here, make sure to visit the Monserrate Palace, located about 3.5 km from the historic Sintra town centre.

It is our personal favourite and least touristy palace in Sintra(for now anyway).

This stunning fishing coastal village, located less than 2 hours from Lisbon, attracts many people each season looking to learn surfing or enjoy the Portuguese lifestyle.

Mafra town has one of Europe’s largest and most extravagant palaces, the Palacio de Mafra.

Constructed between 1717 and 1755 the palace was used as both a convent and royal residence.

You can easily spend here a week or two enjoying the sandy beaches, delicious seafood and explore some of the most unique places Portugal has to offer.

Nazare’s Praia do Norte beach extends for many kilometres and has a beautiful, natural setting.

With almost no tourist development, the beach became famous around the world for its huge waves.

During the winter months, you get to see staggering 30-meter waves here.

Right above the pool stop at the Azenhas do Mar restaurant for an unforgettable seafood stew.
