Instagram Captions for Every Photo: All Our Caption Guides (2026)

We have been writing Instagram captions for our travel photos since 2015, and over the years this blog has grown into one of the biggest collections of captions and quotes on the web. This page brings every one of our caption guides together in one place, so you can find the perfect caption for any photo in seconds.

Every list is free to copy and paste. We have checked the famous quotes too: where a quote is commonly credited to the wrong person, we say so.

Seasonal captions

Plan ahead: these are the captions people search for most at each time of year.

  • Spring captions: flowers, Easter, St Patrick’s Day and blossom. Our favourite: “Spring has sprung.”
  • Summer captions: beach days, pool days and summer nights. Our favourite: “Sun’s out.”
  • Autumn captions: cosy jumpers, falling leaves and pumpkin spice. Our favourite: “Oh my gourd.”
  • Halloween captions: funny, spooky and cute, plus Halloween’s Irish roots. Our favourite: “Creep it real.”
  • Thanksgiving captions
  • Winter captions: snow, ski trips and cosy nights in. Our favourite: “Snow problem.”
  • Christmas captions: funny, cute, Irish and Aussie Christmas captions. Our favourite: “Merry and bright.”
  • New Year captions: New Year’s Eve, resolutions and travel goals. Our favourite: “Fresh page, new story.”
  • Valentine’s Day captions: romantic, funny, Galentine’s and self-love. Our favourite: “Be mine.”

How to write a great Instagram caption

  • Keep it short. Most people only see the first line, so lead with the best bit.
  • Match the mood of the photo. A funny caption on a moody sunset photo can feel off.
  • Credit quotes properly. Lots of famous quotes online are credited to the wrong person. We flag those in our lists.
  • Add a few relevant hashtags. Five to ten well-chosen tags work better than thirty random ones.
  • Ask a question. “Where should we go next?” gets far more comments than a caption that ends with a full stop.

What are the best travel captions for Instagram?

Short and simple usually wins: “Wander often, wonder always”, “Passport ready” and “Collect moments, not things” are three of the most popular. For specific places or seasons, pick one of the guides above.

We add new caption guides regularly, so bookmark this page. Got a caption request? Leave a comment and we will add it.
